In this seminar, we dive deeply and creatively into the vibrant multispecies worlds hidden within Berlin’s cemeteries. Far from being mere places of mourning, these cemeteries have evolved into thriving biodiversity hotspots, offering unique insights into urban ecosystems and multispecies coexistence.
Through collaborative engagement with the course ‚Mediales Gestalten’—‘Beyond Human Design’ led by Christine Guerard—we aim to challenge and reshape conventional perceptions of urban nature. You will employ creative and critical methodologies such as multispecies literature review, podcast explorations, exhibition visits, and critical urban mapping to deeply engage with the more-than-human lifeworlds. Your observations, artistic interventions, and analyses will contribute directly to an entry for Scape, the magazine for landscape architecture and urbanism.
Join us as we bring attention to overlooked multispecies narratives, capturing sensory experiences at eye level, and fostering a deeper, creative appreciation of biodiversity.
